Internet Running out of Bandwidth??

There are new reports stating that the internet is running out of bandwidth. Experts are saying that by 2010 internet users will experience "brownouts" and no internet access for minutes at a time. Also, beginning in 2012 pc's and laptops will work at a slower pace. This means that someday the internet could be useless. I always thought that the internet was limitless but if this story is true then we are in for some serious trouble. I don't know what I would do without the internet, I use it everyday and it is a very essential part of my life. The world would be a lot different with no internet, but I don't think that will happen. Hopefully this story is false or there is a way to fix this problem.

  1. It's true, I am also very dependent on the internet. If ever I need directions to a location, news, information about anything, my exact words are "Google it". Without the internet I think society will be really lost, but perhaps gain back traditional values our parents had for technology?

  2. I always kinda thought the internet was limitless too. I think this is going to be more of an inconvenience more than a crisis. But hey, the worlds supposed to end in 2012 anyways so who cares? ;)

  3. Nick the work is supposed to end? haha. I heard that Geocites is being shut down, so that should leave a lot of room for more bandwith

  4. Just delete all the Jonas Brother fansites and the gross porn and we'll have a lot more room

  5. The problem is that the cable that makes up most of the internet service in this country can't accommodate all of the bandwidth that is necessary in this day and age with streaming HD video and other things online. New technologies such as verizon's FIOS service should help alleviate this problem because fiber networking has much more bandwidth than copper cable.
